Copyright

Hello my name is Nick Garmon and I am going to start off by telling you how my past week has gone. My past week at Gaston Early College High School has been filled with funny and creepy experiences like when my teacher yells drag that body, I dont know about you but to me that's creepy and funny. I have learned alot about computers that i didnt know like how to cite things in MLA format and how to clear yourself from Google Chrome. I hope the next four years are going to be full of similair experiences like my past week.

New terms I have learned are Copyright-which is A law that protects a creator’s ownership and control over the work he or she creates, requiring other people to get the creator’s permission before the copy, share, or perform that  work. Creative commons- A kind of copyright that makes it easy for people to copy, share, and builds on someones creative work - as long as they give the creator credit for it.
Public Domain-Creative work that’s not protected by copyright and is therefore free for you to use however one wants.

New 2.0 tools are great, some examples are:

  • Schoology-Schoology is a great website for teacher and students to keep in contact on assignments due and for help on assignments I would recommend it for schools. the only bad thing is that it is set up like facebook and you can post anything you want so kids could post bad things on the homepage.
  • Flickr-Flickr is great for finding pictures that are published under creative commons which allow you to use them without permission its basically the opposite of copyrighted photography.
  • Code Academy-Code Academy is a great website for learning to code webpages and create headings and title. The only bad thing about it is that it is pretty tough when you start getting  further into the lessons.
Digital Literacy components I learned are:
  • Copyright, Creative Commons and Public Domain. These components will help me academically by me getting better grades on projects that require pictures, because I will know which pictures I can and cant use and if they copyrighted or creative commons.
